E PISODE 15 Promise turned on her side and drew the satin covers up to her shoulders. Her eyes remained shut but her mind was wide opened. She turned again and placed a pillow over her head. “Sleep where are you? Consume me with your sweet darkness. Wrap me in your intoxicating arms and lure me into Summerland,” she whispered to herself. Nothing happened. A low groan escaped from her dry lips. She really needed to sleep. If her strength failed her the next day at work, many heads would roll and one of them would be hers. She lifted her small frame, the covers fell off and laid in layers. In one single jot, she got out of bed and her feet found themselves in the comfort of a pair of slippers kept at the side of the bed. The blue lamp at the bedside illuminated the room. She stretched and let out a loud yawn. “I am so tired, but I can’t sleep!” Her voice echoed through the walls. She walked briskly to the door and opened it. She hoped she didn’t wake parents? EPISODE 14 Oyetunde noticed when Boma and Promise came into the office. Despite the weeks that had gone by, he had not been able to get over her rejection. He speculated whether something was going on between them. They seemed to be closer than when they all started working at TL Communications. Boma settled down and turned his head when he sensed that he was being watched. He caught Kemisola and Adaeze staring at him. He waved and looked away. He didn’t like the way they were staring at him. He won’t be surprised if Adaeze also had a crush on him. “Birds of a feather,” he muttered under his breath. Why was he upset? He shouldn’t allow such things to annoy him. He had been through worse and he had escaped unscathed. He wished them well and prayed they find husbands to marry them as soon as possible.
